We're looking for an experienced web developer who knows their stuff when it comes to looking after our growing collection of servers.

Evolving Media is a successful company whose team is expanding (again). The reason? We have good clients and we produce fantastic work for them. So we need a web developer that can hit the ground running with solid PHP skills, but also work as part of our tech team to provide out-of-hours cover and secondary support for our full-time sys-admin.

On the development side, we like using PHP, XHTML, CSS, XML, XML-RPC, AJAX, web 2.0 APIs and cool open-source stuff. Of course, you're the type of developer that is passionate about the interweb and you care about creating the best user experience possible. You're not fazed by a fast-paced agency environment, can communicate clearly, are comfortable working with other developers and can take direction. You read all the right blogs, know all the celebrity geeks and on top of that, you can shoot a killer game of pool, hang out on Facebook and your Wii has replaced your gym membership.

On the sys-admin side, you can handle day-to-day tasks like creating accounts, fixing permissions and tracking server faults. We use Debian and Ubuntu on our servers and run Apache, MySQL, Postfix, Cyrus and Nagios. If you have experience working with Macs, Windows and VMWare, that's a bonus. Of course, we'll provide training on our specific setups.

This role would suit a developer that can cope with interruptions, can work quickly and confidently to get problems sorted and doesn't mind getting a bunch of automated text messages at 3am saying a server is poorly (out-of-hours cover is on a rota basis and the salary offered will take this into account).

We're a 'fully-integrated marketing agency'. That means we work with our clients to take care of every aspect of their marketing and communications requirements. Over the past year, we've started building web-based software applications like the EMS which lets our clients send their own email and SMS marketing campaigns or the AMS, which helps our clients keep control of their digital assets. And everything is underpinned by our own CMS platform.
