Heath Ledger’s performance lives up to the hype, and the explosively dark nature of the whole film does not disappoint. The crowd in Cineworld were openly laughing, cheering and even wincing as the plot unfolded.

This topped Spiderman and Superman for me and is surely the best batman film yet, albeit a little lengthy.

We won’t ruin the plot for those non-early-adopters among you, but instead will leave you with a line from Heath himself... Why. So. Serious?
