Evolving supports The Wildlife Trust
In early 2007 we have become a Silver Corporate Member of The Wildlife Trust.
Managing Director, Martin Scovell commented:
"Evolving recognises the vital work of The Wildlife Trusts nationally and is delighted to become a Silver Member of The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough. With wildlife and their habitats under increasing pressure from climatic and man-made influences it has never been so vital that we support efforts to protect this irreplaceable natural heritage".
The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough is one of a network of 47 local trusts in the UK.
It manages 137 nature reserves within the 3 Counties, covering 5500 hectares (the equivalent of 12,000 football pitches). Over 7,000 school visits take place each year.
Evolving's Silver Membership, which includes a donation on behalf of all the company's clients in lieu of a Christmas gift, will contribute to a range of valuable projects, which could typically include, for example:
- A new cattle pen to allow one of our reserves to be grazed by cattle, instead of having to cut grass with machinery. Grass needs to be cut to help certain rare wildlife species such as butterflies and birds survive.
- 8 field gates to allow cattle to be moved to new sections of various reserves and aid the way that we graze those reserves.
- 6 easy access entrance gates, so that the general public can enjoy better access to some of the 137 reserves that we manage in the three counties.
- Up to 250 metres of fencing to keep any cattle within the reserve and to prevent some people from dumping rubbish and bringing vehicles onto a reserve.
- Maintainance of the paths and bridleways at our largest reserve in Bedfordshire, Pegsdon Hills for up to three years.
- Leverage to release up to £12,000 of Landfill Tax funding.During the year we will post regular bulletins regarding activities at The Wildlife Trusts and we encourgage everyone to enjoy the Trusts' wonderful sites the length and breadth of the UK.
