Arts Council Project Win
Evolving is pleased to announce winning the pitch to produce supporting marketing materials for the upcoming Independent Foreign Fiction Prize.
Following our work with the Arts Council for the prize last year, we won the pitch again for 2008's event. The aim is to promote the role of literature and celebrate the best of international fiction.
The Independent Foreign Fiction Prize is awarded annually to a living author and translator for the best work of contemporary fiction in translation, published in England over the past year (2007 and is judged by a panel of four experts). It ran previously between 1990 and 1995 and was revived in 2001 with the support of Arts Council England.
Uniquely, the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize acknowledges both the novelist and translator equally, recognising the importance of the translator in their ability to bridge the gap between languages. Translators have the profound ability to restructure the original work into something that is innovative, yet faithful to the initial text, something that the prize, awarded by a panel of accomplished judges, seeks to reward.
Our role has been to provide supporting collateral, including invitations, programmes for the event, and stickers that will promote books on-shelf in major bookstores.
A shortlist for the 2008 prize was published in March, and the winner will be announced at an award ceremony held at the Serpentine Gallery Thursday 8th May 2008. The £10,000 prize will be spilt equally between the author and translator.
